The Online Movie Rental Market – Online, Affordable and Dependable

The online movie rental market is gaining more and more steam as we speak and it doesn’t show signs of slowing down. More people everyday are signing up for the most popular and fastest growing online movie streaming providers.

The easiest way to bring the best features of all these providers with a service that is online, affordable and dependable is to support the one system that brings all of these items together into one. The convenience of having all the movies online and having them all available for download is the one thing you should look for in an online movie rental company. Now you can actually find such a service.

Aside from the fact that this new and incredibly reliable company already exists, the price you will pay to have all of this in your hands will be almost nothing if compared to other services that will only let you watch the movie online without being able to download it. Or even if you compare to a simple rental store.

If you and your family love to enjoy your precious times together while enjoying a good movie but can’t stand having to pay the costly fees of DVD rental stores, you will find a better way to fix this problem with the deals that such online movie rental market offers.

And if you still enjoy to go through the movies synopsis and know exactly which movies you want to purchase or watch online, such websites offer all the information so you will know where to go.

The History of the Vampire in Movies

The History of the Vampire in Movies

Vampires have had a long and interesting history on film. In fact, the vampire movie has gone through a number of distinct stages, where the vampire has played a variety of different roles. In this article, I will discuss the various phases of the movie vampire.

The Tragic Loner

In the film Nosferatu from 1922, the vampire is portrayed as a tragic loner who is miserable and needs to feed on the flesh of other people. This form of the vampire is miserable, ugly and appears barely human. Though this version of the vampire was quickly replaced by the Bela Legosi version, it is, in fact, closer to the mythology of vampires than any other film version.

The Gentleman

In the film Dracula from 1931, we see a filmed version of Bram Stoker’s character from the novel of the same name. Like that character, Dracula appears as a ruthless and evil, but wealthy and charismatic gentleman. Unlike the character from Nosferatu, the Dracula of this film is suave and attractive. It is the beginning of vampires as being sexy.

The Buffoon

Not everything can last, however. For much of the 1950s and 1960s, vampires were largely used in comedy movies. The combination of intensity and decadence from the early films made ripe pickings for comedies such as Roman Polanski’s The Fearless Vampire Killers.

The rise of exploitation films in the 1960s and 1970s gave two new versions of the film vampire: cannon fodder and naked vampire chick. Exploitation films focused on violence and sex, and vampires could provide a lot of both. Vampire men played some of the same cannon fodder role as zombies do today, while vampire women tended to be both naked and lesbians.

The Bad Boy

In the 1980s, vampire films had something of a renaissance. Rather than retelling old stories, the idea became to make vampires as they would be today. The decision was unanimous: they would be really, really cool. Whatever was cool at the time would be characteristic of vampires. This kind of vampire can be seen in films like The Lost Boys and later in Blade.

The Dandy

Then, of course, there is Anne Rice. The film Interview With a Vampire brought her vision of violent, decadent vampires to the big screen. Since then, the well-dressed, Victorian immortal who is in touch with his feelings has returned to the big screen as a common role for the vampire.

Where will vampires go from here? Currently, vampires are usually “Bad boys”, with some “Dandy” thrown in (sometimes at the same time, like in Twilight). Quentin Tarantino and those inspired by him have tried to revive the cannon fodder version of the vampire. Perhaps we will also see a new version. Nonetheless, the vampire is still alive (well, sort of) and well in cinema.…

The Best Films Starring The Great Brad Pitt

The Best Films Starring The Great Brad Pitt

One of the most iconic and likable actors in Hollywood today is Brad Pitt. It is not all too often that you meet someone who doesn’t like Brad Pitt. I mean, aside from the whole Jennifer Aniston fiasco, he seems like a really good guy. It also doesn’t hurt that most of his movies are well selected.

This article will discuss my favorite Brad Pitt movies of all time.

The first movie I will mention is the movie that almost nabbed him his first Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. That film was of course, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. I thought he did an incredible job in this peculiar life story.

Another great movie that he starred in was Se7en. I still remember seeing this movie for the first time and being left speechless at the end. This is as good as murder mystery thrillers get. This movie also stars Morgan Freeman and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Another one of the best Brad Pitt movies is Fight Club. In my opinion, this was the role of Pitt’s career. I cannot think of a film character who is cooler than Tyler Durden and I don’t think anyone could have pulled it off the way Pitt did.

One film that featured Pitt that I thoroughly enjoyed was Snatch. It is truly amazing how crazy Pitt’s accent is in this film; you cannot make out anything he is saying. I think its supposed to be Irish.

In the scope of the romantic genre, one great movie starring Brad Pitt was Meet Joe Black. Pitt plays Death in this film and falls in love with the daughter of the man who is supposed to kill. Pretty interesting stuff.

I am sure there are some other great films that I have left off this list. Brad Pitt has enough great films to make a follow up article, so don’t worry if I left off one of your favorites.…

Reviewed: The Wave [2008]

Reviewed: The Wave [2008]

15 – 107mins – Drama/Thriller – 19th September 2008

A foreign film today all the way from Germany that takes a look into autocracy and dictatorship but with a slight twist- it is set in a school.

Loosely based on the true experiment undertaken by a history teacher in the USA during 1967 which was then written as a book, the film follows unorthodox high school teacher Rainer Wenger (J?rgen Vogel) as he is forced to teach autocracy rather than his preferred choice of anarchy during a school project week in modern day Germany. Deciding that a more hands on approach would help stimulate the uninterested students, he engages with his class in an attempt to show that under certain circumstances the potential for a dictatorship is not as far fetched as some of the students believe it to be. He is elected as a leader by the class and begins to enforce the rules required for an autocracy. The students take to the project emphatically and the experiment soon begins to spiral out of control.

Parts of the film shout out stereotypical teen school and if anything the social groupings are played upon even more than usual as the writers use these differences to enhance the eventual unity that is required for a dictatorship to form. They are not necessarily exaggerated but we are continually reminded ‘look, these kids are different from those ones’ when this fact is rather obvious from the start and does not need emphasis.

Being based in Germany there are obvious references to the Nazi regime and this is unsurprisingly brought up during the movie as a theme. It gives the emotions that extra edge and enhances the plot making it easier to believe that something like this could happen again.

The film becomes more sinister as it progresses and manages to deliver a heavy topic for discussion in a very involved and entertaining fashion getting you to think into the chances of something like this happening, how it would happen and would you be dragged in under a similar scenario? It manages to achieve this without preaching it’s message as well which I always approve of.

In summation, this is a good foreign movie that is able to make you forget that it’s being spoken in German and lets you concentrate on the story. I’m always impressed when a foreign film can do this and so the scriptwriters must be complemented along with the rest of the crew for making it possible. The acting is good from all involved, I really appreciated the cinematography and it got me thinking. A solid film all-around.

Twilight Breaking Dawn Part Two Movie Review

Twilight Breaking Dawn Part Two Movie Review

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part Two is the second of two romantic vampire films that make up the conclusion of the Twilight Saga that I saw over the weekend. All three main cast members, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner are back. Solid and possible record breaking business is expected due to it being the only new release over the past weekend. However did it go out with a bang or with a whimper?

Part 2 picks up right after the first one with Bella, after giving birth to her daughter Renesmee, is now a full fledged vampire. Bella finds herself enjoying this new life in a couple of early sequences that show off her speed and hunting skills as she goes one on one with a mountain lion. Bella also learns the differences between the lives of vampires and humans from some coaching by the other clan members. Minor drama aside, all seems to go along well.

However a new crisis looms as her daughter Renesmee has been mistakenly identified as an “immortal child”, a child who has been turned into a vampire, therefore conflicting with the laws of vampire culture. The Volturi, enforcers of the vampire laws, plan to destroy Renesmee, Bella and Edward. In order to survive they must gather other vampires from around the world to challenge the Volturi and possibly fight if they must, for the right to live.

The direction of the movie is pretty fast paced and is over rather quickly with a lot of time spent with events that steered toward its conclusion. The acting is more of the same and you will either like it or not. I fell more-so towards the latter.

The sequence at the end was put together very well and was pretty violent however there is a twist at the end that made everything before it irrelevant and it was pleasing to most of the audience but it kinda disappointed me.

I must say that I was never really into the Twilight Series and I gave the last one a pretty bad score however this one was a lot better and i just resigned myself to the fact that these movies are not for me lol. However fans will be satisfied with its conclusion and I’m sure that they will enjoy it much more than I did.

Rated PG-13 for violence and some sexuality.…

Movie Distribution Marketing Fees and Independent Filmmakers Make Love or War

Movie Distribution Marketing Fees and Independent Filmmakers Make Love or War

Movie distribution marketing fees and independent filmmakers make love or war. Through social networking with filmmakers online and meeting up with friends in the business to share war stories at a pub, film distribution money is always a hot topic about making movies. Studio films with Hollywood stars spend tens of millions of dollars to market the release of a movie. That is entirely different than what happens in the independent film scene.

One indie filmmaker Princeton Holt I thought expressed it well, “Indie film distribution is like having kids. Great idea, but maybe not for everyone. It happens to work for us, but we still fight.” Movie distribution companies that cater to releasing indie movies do not run commercials, radio spots, or invest money in an aggressive online SEO marketing campaign to connect with viewers.

The likely scenario is they create an 8.5 x 11 artwork one-sheet poster that is sent out to their movie buyers like a Blockbuster. They add a thumbnail of the one-sheet, movie synopsis, director and main cast credits, and film trailer to their website. The movie distribution company will attend different film sales markets where your movie might or might not have a full size poster displayed at their booth or suite. There is always a catalog for film buyers to browse that contains all artwork one-sheets of titles they have.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this if they do not overcharge to make sure you never make money. A majority of indie produced films do not have name stars that domestic and foreign film buyers know. Reading emails and talking to friends that have felt they have been burned by a greedy film distributor boils down to not making money from their movie. When the film royalty statement arrives they are shocked at how much in movie distribution marketing fees they are being charged.

One filmmaker shared with me that they were being charged a flat $50,000 marketing fee on an indie release. In some cases there is not a cap on movie distribution marketing fees, which makes it impossible for an indie film to ever get out the red and the producer to be paid. This can be avoided by savvy filmmakers that either have an entertainment attorney, film sales agent, or take the time to educate themselves about what “so-called standard movie distribution agreements” are. I personally think the standard movie distribution agreement is BS.

Every deal is different depending on the quality of the movie and what contract terms can be negotiated. Through working with entertainment attorneys and sales agents I have learned how to hammer down movie distribution marketing fees diplomatically. When I read contracts I have educated myself enough to be able to zero on financially critical deal points that have to be changed in order for me as an independent producer to continue to make money from movies and reality programs. I have learned the distribution business through good and bad experiences.

Self-distribution is cool, but does not have to be your only option. Landing traditional distribution through a reputable film distributor will pay you much more money if your deal points are right than limited self-distribution. Not every movie distributor is out to screw you and good ones understand producers should be paid fairly or they will stop getting films and go out of business.

The film distributors out to prey on first time filmmakers you should flush down the toilet without thinking twice. If your movie is entertaining you will make money as long as you know the deal points to look for. Without writers, producers, actors, directors, and producers distribution companies have no product to sell. This is indie filmmaker Sid Kali typing FADE OUT…

The Cinema From My Living Room

The Cinema From My Living Room

For some years now, my friends and I gather for a movie night every Wednesday. At the beginning, we had to choose the movie and the cinema and that took us about a week to decide, basically the time between the nights.

One day, one of my friends bought a cool 40” HD TV and for a few weeks, the movies looked great on his set. Then another friend purchased a home cinema system and we all moved to his house for the movies. A month or so, one of the guys invited us to watch the football game at his house. When we arrived, we discovered that his TV was gone; actually, it was just moved and the wall was covered with a white screen. Some anxious people later, our friend turned on the projector. Well, I guess I don’t have to tell you what it was like to watch the game on a big wall!

Watching the news at my place, it made me look closer to my TV and all other devices. I remembered my friends’ acquisitions and how much I liked them. Then I decided it’s time for shopping. Not just an item, but I thought a movie night at my place deserves the whole equipment.

I know they went to stores and looked for the best offers; I just didn’t like the idea of wandering around the city. Fortunately, the man’s best friend – the internet- revealed some amazing offers. In fact, there are websites that put together all the clearances around the country. And a lower price only means that I can get myself new quality electronics for less money.

Electronics are always ‘this season’ so I started to look for some hot devices with great prices. And that’s how I got a home cinema system with 30% off; my new TV had an amazing 40% discount. One thing led to another and now I am setting my new projector as well, that I found with 37% less. If you want to know about the quality, ask my friends. They decided we’ll watch all the movies and games at my place!

Newborn Baby Filming Tips

Newborn Baby Filming Tips

Parenting is equally essential as preserving the memory of your newborn and you need a good quality movie to be able to get good quality pictures. And to shoot a great movie, you need to have a really good camera with the best features. Buying a camcorder that can suit your purpose is a great challenge as there are several brands in the market with equally different price tags. But the key elements are the features that have to be top drawer for getting a good shoot of your baby.

Check YouTube

Planning is the most important part of filming your newborn as it keeps even professional photographers on tenterhooks. To get a hang of how to photograph babies, you can check out some of the excellent videos displayed on YouTube. You can watch endless footages of funny videos of newborns in various moods and the sounds would come on in perfectly. You can preserve the film for ages and show them around to your kids when they grow up.

Share them

Capturing precious moments of newborns are becoming increasingly popular and becoming an essential part of parenting as well the world over. With the development in technology, it has become easier to film a newborn and make a movie out of it that you can share with other family members, friends and relatives. There are several social networking sites that can be used for uploading the video for everyone to watch.

Shoot in proper light

Among the tips that you need for getting a good film done with a camcorder is the lighting of your shot. Take care to shoot in proper lighting or else, you will end up with grainy pictures. The best way to overcome poor lighting is to shoot outdoors which can provide the right conditions even on a cloudy day. Check out the light and your best bet would be to shoot very early in the morning or late in the afternoon for getting the best results.

Mount on a tripod

There are tripods that are available for $30 and you can use them to mount your camcorder. It secures your camera and you can also perform artistic pans and zooms and include your self as well during the shoot. Do not rely on the digital image stabilization feature as it lowers the video resolution. If you are shooting indoors, open the blinds and allow enough light to stream in. You can also turn on the overhead lights and lamps and also use a shoe mounted light if required.

Avoid digital zoom

Do not use digital zoom as it again would give a grainy video. By increasing the digital zoom level, the cam will crop to the center of the image making the remaining portion extremely large. Your best bet would be to turn off the digital zoom from inside the menu system of your camera. Instead, you can go for the optical zoom that relies on the lens for magnification and rely more on your feet as expert photographers will tell you for filming your newborn.…

Top 10 Misquoted Movie Lines

Top 10 Misquoted Movie Lines

How many times have you heard someone say, “I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse” or “Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?” These are lines from movies. People may not even know they are repeating movie quotes. They have simply heard these movie lines so often in casual conversation that the movie quotes become part of everyday speech.

But movie quotes are frequently misquoted.

An example is, “We don’t need no stinking badges!” A lot of people quote that line but they may have no idea that it’s from the 1948 movie “The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.” When a group of Mexican bandits who say they are “federales” corner Humphrey Bogart behind some rocks, Bogey asks to see their badges to prove they really are “federales.” That’s when the leader of the bandits says the famous line. But he doesn’t say, “We don’t need no stinking badges!” What he actually says is, “Badges? We ain’t got no badges. We don’t need no badges. I don’t have to show you any stinking badges!”

To further embed this misquote into the public consciousness, Mel Brooks brilliantly spoofs it in his 1975 movie “Blazing Saddles.” Corrupt politician Hedley Lamarr rounds up all kinds of ruffians to attack the town of Rock Ridge. Included are some Mexican bandits. When Hedley signs them up, he wants to give them badges, and they say, “Badges? We don’t need no stinking badges!” Since that movie used the “misquoted” quote, it is technically not a misquote, but it is if you go back to the original movie.

Another example of a misquoted movie line is, “We have ways of making you talk.” This quote pops up in everyday conversation, but the actual line from the 1935 movie “The Lives of a Bengal Lancer” is, “We have ways to make men talk.”

So why do movie quotes get twisted into a misquote that is then thought to be the actual quote? That’s the mystery. Perhaps the altered, often shorter version of the original movie quote just has a better ring to it!

So here are my Top 10 Misquoted Movie Lines, in no particular order.

“Badges? We don’t need no stinking badges!”

REAL QUOTE: “If she can stand it, I can. Play it!” Humphrey Bogart as “Rick Blaine”

MOVIE: Casablanca (1942)

“Why don’t you come up and see me sometime?”

REAL QUOTE: “Why don’t you come up sometime ‘n see me.” Mae West as “Lady Lou”

MOVIE: She Done Him Wrong (1933)

“Well, here’s another fine mess you’ve gotten us into.”

REAL QUOTE: “Well, here’s another nice mess you’ve gotten me into.” Oliver Hardy as “Oliver”

MOVIE: Another Fine Mess (1930)

“Mrs. Robinson, are you trying to seduce me?”

REAL QUOTE: “Mrs. Robinson, you’re trying to seduce me. Aren’t you?” Dustin Hoffman as “Benjamin Braddock”

MOVIE: The Graduate (1967)

“Me Tarzan, you Jane.”

REAL QUOTE: “Jane. Tarzan. Jane. Tarzan.” Johnny Weissmuller as “Tarzan”

MOVIE: Tarzan The Ape Man (1932)

“Smile when you call me that!”

REAL QUOTE: “If you want to call me that, smile.” Gary Cooper as “The Virginian”

MOVIE: The Virginian (1929)

“We have ways of making you talk.”

REAL QUOTE: “We have ways to make men talk.” Douglas Dumbrille as “Mohammed Khan”

MOVIE: The Lives of a Bengal Lancer (1935)

“Luke, I am your father.”

REAL QUOTE: “No, I am your father.” James Earl Jones voicing “Darth Vader”

MOVIE: Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

“I’m ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille”

REAL QUOTE: “All right, Mr. DeMille, I’m ready for my close-up.” Gloria Swanson as “Norma Desmond”

MOVIE: Sunset Boulevard (1950)…
