Triple Dog Movie Review

Triple Dog Movie Review

Triple Dog is a 2009 drama-thriller distributed by Well Go. Some of its stars include Britt Robertson as Chapin, Alexa Fast as Eve, Scout Taylor-Compton as Liza, Janel Parrish as Cecily, and Emily Tennant as Sarah. The producers are Thomas L. Carter, Pascal Franchot, and Mike Jackson. The director is Pascal Franchot.

The story centers around a group of girls at a sleepover birthday party. They are all bored and decide to play a game called Triple Dog, which is Truth-or-Dare without the truth part. Eve, the birthday girl, chooses the girl and that girl must choose someone to dare her. She must do the dare or else she will have her head shaved. As each girl has her turn, the group begins to uncover the truth about the mysterious death of another girl, Stacy St. Claire. Some time earlier, she had jumped off the nearby Jogger’s Bridge to her death. Almost everyone figured it was suicide, but, as the girls find out, there was much more to it than that.

The two most interesting characters in the film are, I believe, Liza and Chapin. They both appear to be outcasts but Chapin is more of a troublemaker than Liza. Eve, who is new in town, befriends Chapin. Liza, on the other hand, is not a friend of Eve’s but is pressured into going to the birthday party. Chapin is always making fun of people, mainly other girls, which makes her extremely unpopular with the “popular” crowd, of which Eve tries to be a part. Liza has no friends except a rat that she carries around with her in a backpack. Because of this fact, everyone knows her better as “Rat Girl”. The ironic thing about these two outcasts, who seemingly have much in common, is that they can’t stand each other. They actually engage in a fight in the school library after Liza threatens to reveal why Chapin had been kicked out of Catholic school. It may be the fact that they are so much alike is why they don’t get along.

Another fascinating feature of Triple Dog is the kinds of dares that each of the girls is asked to perform. For most of them, the specific dares are in direct contrast to what they’re used to doing. They go against their reputations. For example, Sarah’s dare was to go streaking. Sarah is known as a good Catholic girl who never swears or does anything naughty. Liza is dared to stay in Eve’s brother’s closet until midnight, wearing a cheerleading outfit. As I stated earlier, she is an outcast, which is the direct opposite of what a stereotypical cheerleader is. Cecily’s dare is to urinate on the school principal’s front porch. Cecily is the student council president and a “goody two-shoes”.

To wrap, Triple Dog is a great thriller that is sure to keep its viewers on the edges of their seats from beginning to end!…

David Banner – This Christmas

David Banner – This Christmas

“This Christmas” is a 2007 film billed as a comedy-drama written, directed, and produced by Preston A. Whitmore II. It is a story revolving around the Christmas holiday and the Whitfield family in particular. The children are home for the holiday, including one son that has not been home in four years. All of them have their own stories, their own “baggage,” that is brought along for the vacation. Throughout the film, secrets become revealed and the bonds of the family are continually tested. As all the lives of the Whitfield family meet together, in the end, they are able to learn what it truly means to be a family.

This movie stars Idris Elba, Chris Brown, and Regina King. Other actors and actresses include Loretta Devine, Delroy Lindo, Sharon Leal, David Banner, and a cameo by Mekhi Phifer.

The reception of “This Christmas” was very mixed. On the review aggregate website, Rotten Tomatoes, a small majority declared the film as “rotten.” The main consensus about this film was that it “has strong performances, but relies too heavily on holiday movie clich?s.” Even with a few bad interviews, when it premiered in theaters, it was ranked as second in the box office and opened with over $17,000,000. The whole film grossed $49,121,934 domestically.

The film’s score generated favorable reviews. The Jive Records released the soundtrack in November 2007. It featured the vocal styling of Chris Brown, Jordin Sparks, B2K, Aaron Neville, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, Toni Braxton, and TLC.

Battle Los Angeles – A Lost Battle

Battle Los Angeles – A Lost Battle

Yet another alien attack and yet another chance for a bunch of US Marines to shout battle cries as they save the world. Wait. Battle: Los Angeles isn’t about the world; it’s about Los Angeles and well…honestly who cares about it, right?

Battle Los Angeles Plot

At the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base outside of Los Angeles, CA, a group of marines, lead by Sergeant Michael Nantz (Aaron Eckhart), are called to respond immediately to one of many coastlines under attack across the globe. Sergeant Nantz and his corps go into fierce battle against ocean born aliens that are determined to overtake the water supply and destroy everything in their path.

For Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz (Aaron Eckhart) and his merry men the world view is only limited to LA and they’d die before giving up their world to a bunch of freaks. Nantz can’t get over the guilt of leaving his men in combat to die and decides to leave the forces. He chooses one hell of a day to put in his papers: aliens have attacked the world and his boss tells him to boot up to kick the invaders out. None of the men in his platoon are happy for who knows he might desert them again. Slowly he ends up winning the confidence of his men and the woman (Michelle Rodriguez) he leads and also becomes the hero of the civilians he saves.A

The mainstay of the film–a bunch of soldiers going on a mission to rescue civilians holed up in an area which would be subjected to synchronized air attack in a few hours–is almost like Black Hawk Down’s centerpiece. Once writer Christopher Bertolini decides to get inspired by the Ridely Scott film, director Jonathan Liebesman ensures that everything else right from the plot points to shot-taking is woefully similar to Black Hawk Down.A

The only shred of creativity here seems to be the change of location and replacing the Somalians with a bunch of idiotic school science project looking aliens. When the soldiers meet-up with the civilians it shifts into Saving Private Ryan(s) mode! At times it feels as if the drama and tragedy are being forced on you.

Final verdict

Shaking camera in the name of you-being-there experience, trite writing–even with aliens attacking all around someone tells someone ‘this is not a drill’ and then repeats the same line for good measure, there isn’t a single image in Battle: Los Angeles that lingers on in your mind or heart for a moment longer than a nano-second. Completely devoid of anything sensible and overtly predictable to death, Battle: Los Angeles is a lost cause right from the time the lights dim in the theater. Watch it at your own risk.

Battle Los Angeles Rating: 1/5

Will The Public Rally Around the First Ever Female Fat Superhero? And Should They?

Will The Public Rally Around the First Ever Female Fat Superhero? And Should They?

Titled “Blubberella,” this is one movie that may finally put director Uwe Boll in the spotlight, at least temporarily. The German director, famous for low budget films mostly based on video games, has made a movie that introduces the world’s first female fat superhero. The only available footage is the recently released trailer, but based on Boll’s previous body of work, this film will likely be decidedly lacking in story or subtlety.

That being said, those looking for an obese role model will almost predictably be disappointed as this will probably not be a fat empowerment movie by any measure. The trailer seems to imply that the only plot is one where Blubberella somehow defeats Nazis through endless eating, and the occasional shooting of guns. The food jokes appear to supply most of the ‘comedy’ alongside the heroine’s weight.

Although this movie won’t be seen on a wide scale (straight to video is its likely fate), it will be interesting to see what even the limited audience captured by this movie ultimately thinks of it. Will those who are overweight see this film’s message as empowering or demeaning? Time will tell.

But even a straight to video film begs an important question. Is belittling this health crisis, and the people most affected by it, in anyway productive? The rising level of obesity in the Western world, including Boll’s own country, is alarming to put it lightly. Should we not instead find ways to constructively address this epidemic in such a way that we can spur positive change, rather than reduce those suffering from this crisis to nothing more than the butt of bad jokes?

I’m not saying we need to hand-hold anyone here. We’re all ultimately accountable for the lifestyle decisions we make. But reducing obesity to a cheap joke doesn’t seem like the direction we should head either. A medium like film can be used as powerful commentary, inciting positive discussions and movement toward addressing and creating real solutions. While this movie will not likely be considered a powerful art experience, it seems a shame that even C-grade movie fare is content with simply and solely preaching that fat people are funny.…

Easy Action Steps to Attract Prosperity

Easy Action Steps to Attract Prosperity

Taking small, simple action steps is a good way to get some beneficial prosperity energy flowing through your life – but what kind of action should you take? Below are three simple steps to get you started:

Give to Others What You Want to Receive

There’s no doubt about it; giving to others makes you feel good! And when you feel good, you automatically begin attracting good things into your life. Even better, you can use this process to attract specific qualities into your life by finding a way to share those same qualities with others.

If you want to attract more money, start giving money to causes that are important to you. If you want to attract a loving relationship, start sharing your love more freely with others. If you crave more meaning in your daily life, find ways to make the lives of other people more meaningful. Even if you don’t have a lot of time, money, or energy to share, remember that small gestures can still have a very large impact and create a strong attraction for goodness to flow back to you.

Dare to Dream Bigger

Have you ever held yourself back from setting bigger goals because you were afraid you might fail to achieve them? After one or more painful failures early in our lives, most of us decided to squelch down our dreams and settle for “safer” endeavors so we never have to feel that way again. Unfortunately, such a habit only keeps us feeling dissatisfied. If you want to expand your perceived limitations in a fun and easy way, try the following exercise.

Grab a notebook and pen and find a quiet place to be alone. Clear your mind and then try to imagine the biggest, grandest goal for your life that you can. Make it big enough that you have no idea how to make it happen, but still realistic enough so that you can see yourself living it. Write this goal down in detail, ask the universe to show you how to make it happen, and then stay alert to any insights or nudges you may get about actions that would move you toward achieving it. By expanding your realm of possibilities in this way, you minimize any fear of failure and make success much more likely.

Build Your Belief

Low self-worth is a chronic problem for many people – and the most challenging thing about it is that we may not even realize we have it! The good news is that there is an easy way to tell if low self-worth may be hindering your ability to attract what you want. Right now, think about something you want and have been trying to attract.

Then grab a sheet of paper and write down, “I deserve to have (fill in your desire here).” Read that statement to yourself a few times, and notice how you feel. If you really do believe you deserve it, you will feel calm and confident about it. If you are holding any resistance to that belief you will feel a twinge of guilt, doubt, uncertainty, or fear pop up. This is a clear sign that you need to work on strengthening your belief that you deserve the things you want.…

Facts And Figures About James Cameron’s Titanic

Facts And Figures About James Cameron’s Titanic

Upon hearing the word ‘Titanic’, people will most likely think about two things. The first is the sinking of the cruise ship RMS Titanic on its maiden voyage in April 15, 1912. The second is the epic movie Titanic written and directed by the uber-talented director James Cameron, which was loosely based on the tragic event. The film was released in 1997 and it tells the love story between two passengers of the cruise ship. The two main characters of this film are the poor but charming artist Jack Dawson and the 17 year old first class passenger Rose DeWitt Bukater.

Although James Cameron’s Titanic was released 14 years ago, many people are still fascinated by it today. The tragic love story of Jack and Rose definitely struck a chord with those who have watched the film. But there also many other things that make this movie special.

There are actually so many films about the tragedy of the RMS Titanic, but nothing can compete with Titanic in terms of popularity and financial success. An estimated budget of $200,000,000 was spent to make this movie, making it the most expensive film ever made when it was released in 1997. The movie held the title for 8 years, before losing it to King Kong which was released in 2005. Titanic did not just cost a lot of money to make, but it also generated a lot of cash. Titanic generated a worldwide gross revenue of $1,843,201,268, and in 1998 it was crowned the highest grossing film in history. The movie held the title for 11 years, before losing it to another movie written and directed by James Cameron. Yes, we are talking about the 2009 science fiction movie Avatar.

Soon after its release on 19 December 1997, Titanic received many positive reviews from both critics and the media. Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a rating of 83% “Fresh” based on 97 reviews, while Metacritic rated it 74 out of 100 based on 34 reviews.

James Cameron’s Titanic also garnered numerous prestigious accolades. At the 70th Academy Awards in 1997, the film won 11 awards out of 14 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Song (for Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On). In the entire history of the Academy Awards, there are only two other movies that can match the success of Titanic: the 1959 Ben-Hur, and the 2004 The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.…

Movie Review: Real Steel

Movie Review: Real Steel

In “Real Steel,” Shawn Levy’s feature-length version of “Steel,” which is an episode of the Twilight Zone, a pugilist retires and makes a transition to the business side of the ring after robotic boxers replace humans. At the time when the sport of boxing was forever changed, Charlie Kenton, who is played by Hugh Jackman, was fighting for the title. Now, in place of humans fighting for the masses, enormous, powerful robots of steel exchange blows in the ring. Because of this, Charlie, a former gladiator, Charlie has now been forced to become an insignificant promoter, who pieces together fighting bots out of scrap metal as he makes his way through the secretive boxing circuit. When it seems certain that Charlie has fallen to rock bottom, Max, his estranged son, played by Dakota Goyo, provides him with the one-shot chance at a comeback by building and training a real champion. Charlie is completely equipped and ready to coach this robot to triumph so that once and for all, he can leave a permanent mark on the sport of boxing which his life was once dedicated to.

This movie has good science fiction credentials for the 1950s. As was previously mentioned, Levy’s adaptation is an adaptation of Steel done by Matheson (Richard) which is set in 1956. Shawn has reportedly expunged the characteristically the setting of Steel in which the society is in a repressive and controlled state and instead created it with a more homely feel which is much better to convey the plot which is based on a dad (Jackman) re-bonding with his estranged son. It does not work out as planned which seems to be the theme that is rampant in the movie scene nowadays. One comment however is that at least the stereotypical retired fighter clich? is avoided as Hugh Jackman’s character somewhat exudes that, but one gets the feeling that Shawn just might have some more typical typecasts in his box of tricks.

On a positive note, the movie Real Steel is at the top of its game technologically, and I’m appreciating the details that went into the creation of the robots. If twenty eleven is the year in which that a simple reconstruction of ideas hits the mark then we are all in for the treat of a lifetime.

This movie Real Steel will hit the box offices in the United States on October 7 and will debut in the United Kingdom in the following week. We are left to wonder if this movie will be a major blockbuster or just be another movie that will soon be forgotten. The movie reviews will tell.…
